Before we head to Myanmar, let’s talk about some fresh content for this week…
A Bag
On almost every trip for the past seven-plus years, I have brought the same bag with me. And when I’m not traveling, it is often with me as well, for photo shoots, overnights, etc. It is made in the USA, has held up extremely well and, I thought, deserves a review in case others are considering that bag (or looking for a good bag company).
On a related note, I decided to show what is in the pack while traveling southeast Asia. I don’t really expect that most people will think traveling with just a 10.5 liter bag is what they want to do, but it has worked great for me. For all of that, you can find the review here. Special thanks to JZ for the camera work.
A Tipsheet
Secondly, I have created a new Pick a Place guide that will grow as time and knowledge permits. In case you don’t know, the Pick a Place section could help you choose where to vacation based on factors like time of year, type of place (e.g. beach) or in this instance, Which Caribbean Island has the Best…
The reason for the Caribbean one is that I often want to quickly know how each island is different and don’t like stumbling through the clutter on other sites. People often ask: Should I go to Barbados or Turks & Caicos? Well, this might help narrow some of that down, especially as it gains content.
A Guide
Lastly, I have added Travel Notes for traveling to the Maldives. The Maldives has newly opened to the backpacker crowd and thus a whole new experience is awaiting.
We visited two of these backpacker-friendly Maldivian Islands, Maafushi and Guraidhoo and wrote about them in previous editions. And of course, then we just got done visiting a resort island of Gili Lankanfushi.
In any case, the full guide now is posted for the Maldives.
Next week we will get into Myanmar, also known as Burma. We will start in Yangon (Rangoon), move our way to Inle Lake and go from there.
Keep Rocking!
