Notes on the Hotel Indigo
Bed is on the firmer side. Sheets are on the rougher side. No thin pillows provided. Sanitary.
The WiFi internet is fast but requires a login from the browser which means you can’t set up your device to auto connect. These types of setups are frustrating.
Hotel Indigo staff were knowledgeable and very friendly at check in. Request for late checkout was granted, albeit a brisk 30 minutes.
The room is nicely decorated with a wood-style floor and a modern design touch. Unfortunately when you look closely, things are looking rundown in the details. For in stands, the headboard is losing its exterior texture, the bathroom sink has some textural repairs and the shower handle is loose. Not deal breakers and fine for the price I paid but I wouldn’t be happy paying north of $300 and having that.
Water pressure is good although you cannot adjust the spray pattern and the head is located quite high. If you like a diagonal spray you’ll get the bathroom wet. Temperature was very responsive and constant.
Air temperature is controlled within the room. Air handler is quite audible and constant which could be one way to drown out exterior noise.
Toiletries are by Aveda, made in the USA, and quite nice. Mouthwash, shampoo, lotion and conditioner. Oddly the AVEDA bottles are cheap with hard to open flip tops.
A mini fridge is provided as is iron and hair dryer.
Hotel Indigo is located close to several subway lines. The location is excellent for exploring Manhattan.
If you get a lower room on the street side expect more Boise than a higher floor. For less noise altogether you could go with a room not facing the street. Hall noise is audible through the door.
Light leakage does occur in morning and is average. Don’t expect a pitch black room in the morning.
Oddly, electrical outlets are badly placed with none easily accessible from the bed. Under the night stand the outlets there are used.
Good desk space and mini auxiliary desk make working from here quite easy.
Rooftop bar is a nice touch. Open to the public unless there is an event going on.
Overall, a great hotel for the price. It isn’t a luxury hotel. I’d say it should be a 3.5 star hotel. Recommended based on price.
