Visiting Finland? You have found my personal notes and travel tips, such as the best time to visit Finland and miscellaneous facts which I obtain from a variety of sources such as first hand observations, personal conversations, magazines, newspapers, websites, books and so forth.
Best Time to Visit Finland
Short Answer: Mid-March through September
Longer Answer: If you want the warmest temperatures that Finland offers, visit in June through August. It rains more often in that period if you are in the far north (Lapland).
If you are looking for good skiing, longer days, and warming temperatures – visit between mid-March and April. Ski facilities are typically open through April and sometimes into May. By March, the sun is out over 12 hours each day.
Another good time to see Lapland would be in September when the foliage is changing over, locally known as Ruska. In the southern regions this can run into early October.
Miscellaneous Travel Tips for Finland
From Helsinki you can take a ferry to Stockholm, Sweden or Tallinn, Estonia.
